Nerves of Mush & A Poll of Sorts

(St. Patrick's Day appropriate smoothie: banana, avocado, yogurt, coconut milk, and this awesome protein powder.)

Later this week, I start officially being a YogaDance Instructor. Sure, I've done all sorts of practice classes with my lovely and cooperative guinea pigs, and I've gone through the somewhat harrowing challenge of the Final Practice Teach that was part of our intensive training at Kripalu, but for the first time, I'll be teaching people who are paying for my services.*

(*If you're an Erie reader, go here for more details.)

This is both exciting and completely frightening. It is the beginning of a new part of my life. It is the culmination of my status as "trainee."

I am trying very hard not to think about this too much. To just allow the day to come and to enjoy it as much as possible. No need to be nervous for weeks, right? I could just concentrate all that nervous into the morning of my first class. Oye.

In the meantime, I know what to do to get rid of this nervy, anxious energy, of course. I just have to dance. A lot.

Onto a completely different topic...

I love my newest banner. Heidi did an amazing job. But alas, I fear (and am saddened) that it no longer exemplifies what is going on on Blisschick. (This is not the fault of the banner but is the result of an unexpected mini-change in direction here.) I am asking you, dear reader, what sorts of things do you think of when you think of Blisschick? I'll be doing a banner redesign very soon and would love your input and suggestions.

I think YOGADANCE

Blue is an interesting choice, I wouldn't have associated the colour with your blog, but then I think colour is a very personal thing, which we all interact with differently :)

Having been a bliss chick follower for a while now...and reading this most recent post...I would say that for me "Courage" is the concept that comes to mind...You live a courageous life and inspire all of us to do the same...Courage to be yourself...ourselves..to dance (in whatever form the word dance takes) courageously and blissfully through our lives...to dance our stories, our truth, our compassion, passion, grief, fear, love...all with courage.

all that said...I remember the first time I taught yoga classes...and art classes and facilitated SoulCollage and coached clients as a Creativity Coach (and got paid for all of the above) feeling completely inept...like maybe I was an imposter who just happened to be certified in these things...and I did my work/play anyway...and always always always...was confident after the fact that YES INDEED...I was/am the real deal...AND SO ARE YOU!

So dance and teach and love every minute.

After much thought.....
When I think of Blisschick I think of Nataraja, Shiva as Lord of the Dance, who dances to transform illusions into enlightenment. One foot grounded, one foot lifted in promise of bliss. Look at the symbolism I think you'll find yourself there.

And ask Marcy to paint you a Guadalupe in a swirl of bright colors, crowned by stars, standing on the moon - Marcy style. I can kind of see it in my head.

I also was very nervous when presenting to a group - but I found that if I just admit I'm nervousness up front it makes it much easier. And my experience has been that an audience (or class) want you to succeed and when you admit your vulnerability will actually somehow send you this energy...and voila!

Just share your joy.

Unexpected mini-change?? Not sure I understand...

What I know:
You Got It, Christine!!

And I think:
BlissChick is what Christine wants it to be!

Christine is the one who makes the BlissChick decisions!

And you do a good job, Christine! Keep walking your BlissPath.

Hearts and Hugs,

What do I think of when I think of Blisschick? I think of vibrant energy. I think of deep thinking and global awareness. I think of wisdom and justice and compassion and spirituality. I think of wild and free dancing. I also think of someone whose heart is wide open and who gives of freely of herself.

I think of cats and rabbits and Marcy and a colourful exuberant home. I think of that image you have of the two colourful deck chairs in your back yard that paints such a peaceful, welcoming picture.

And I think of a lovely supper in a mediocre restaurant in Cleveland where we shared pieces of our hearts with each other.

That's a lot to put in a banner. :-)

Congratulations on your first class!

What I think of when I think of your blog is someone who is finding their way day by day thru the wilderness, just like all of us do, and drawing a map as she goes in case it may hold a clue for other people who happen along. Kinda like bread crumbs, but without the idea of using them oneself to go back ... maybe someone leaving breadcrumbs in case the birds would like to come along on the trip :)

When I think about Bliss Chick, I think of things that are moving and growing. Specifically I thought of cacti. Not because of they're prickliness I promise. But because in inhospitable places they are full of life and beauty.

GETTING PAID FOR YOUR SERVICES! What blissful madness, what frightful wonderment! I got my first check last week from someone I only know professionally. The big test will be taking money from my yoga teacher and close friend of five years. Still struggling with setting prices...

Do you know of any blogging folk who have editing/writing services? I need to quiz someone on what my time is worth.

How exciting re: your first official class! Best wishes, but then I'm sure it will be marvelous. :)

I'm not entirely sure I get the 'unexpected mini-change in direction' either, but agree with Brooks - BlissChick is whatever you want it to be. We love you any which way!

Like Laura, I think COURAGE exemplifies your blog. But also HONESTY and FROM THE HEART. Not to mention EXCITEMENT, CREATIVITY, PASSION & KINDNESS.

These are the things that stand out for me when I think about you and your blog...

Congrats on your upcoming official new role...

I love everyone's 'think of' answers above. Completely randomly I think of freedom, of swirling dervishes, of writing, of creativity, of women, of support, of books, of lakes, and of course of yoga and bliss!!

I love what everyone has said about what they think of when they think of Bliss Chick. I think Jeanne had a fantastic idea...a photo of you dancing would make a beautiful banner. Dancing, totally lost in joy and bliss of the moment. How sublime!

Congratulations and best wishes in your new role as a YogaDance Instructor. I know you will inspire your students as you inspire us here!
